Think the entertainment industry is like the 3 hour awards shows we see four to five times a year on TV? I sure hope not, because even though certain rockstars, moviestars, and broadway stars are constantly being taken care of, those who work in this industry are actually “working” and working, “a lot.” And take it from me, it’s not always pretty.
WHAT IF ROADIES ACTUALLY DID RUN THE WORLD? THIS VIDEO COULDN’T BE CLOSER TO THE TRUTH.
Have you watched Bremner, Bird & Fortune, the satirical British television program? [Wikipedia] Here is John Bird and John Fortune’s totally believable take on the investment banking community mindset and the subprime crisis.
Would you walk away from ten years of your life work and passion – because your conscience now tells you, your work is not safe for the environment? Well, that is exactly what our Friday Enlightenor just did.
John Lacy, astronomy professor at the University of Texas, has had the courage to stand up for what is right, and has walked away from awards and accolades and future success for his life work for NASA, because it is the right thing to do. With people like Lacy, our world will be in good hands…
Last week, I listed 10 behaviours that need to change for the network marketing industry to earn the respect it deserves. That list was not intended to be inclusive, but rather a good starting point for an industry revolution.
In using my Law of Attraction model for change, the first thing we talk about is what we don’t want. We did that last week. Now, that is done. So, let’s focus on what needs to replace these behaviors. I will take the list of 10 items, one at a time, and discuss them over the next weeks on our Thursday blogs.
We all have habits. Some good and some not so good. It’s the same for our organizations. Some foster organizational progress and some detract from it. Are the ingrained habits at your organization working to benefit the company or are they aiding and abetting the competition?
Old habits die hard. That’s why they are called habits. But when habits prevent fresh thinking, become out of date routine patterns, or become mindless repetition, habits can become disruptive.

This latest product is a delightful approach to discussing how our society has overlooked the essence of life, creating cultures overly occupied with MORE. We are consumed with Achievement, and have lost the ability to trust and access our greatest gifts…and consequently, discover our life purpose.
Remember Carly? – the most talented hair artist, actor, singer, bodybuilder – all- around woman I have met in a long time! I profiled Carly in a previous blog where I introduced you to how I attracted this special woman as my new hair stylist – and in true abundance, I found much more than a talented stylist -I found a new and amazingly talented friend.
BEING – BELIEVING – ACHIEVING
This is the tag line for my Soul Abundant site, and the essence of using our greatest powers of intuition, thoughts and emotions, to create our preferred reality. Carly took my course several months ago, and she recently sent me this email to share an exciting example of how the Law of Attraction is actually working in her life, helping her to fulfill one of her dreams.
CARLY ATTRACTS HER DREAM HOME – JUST BY BELIEVING…
One of the biggest challenges in business is understanding our markets. We often choose to conduct research to get a better handle on market trends, demand, expectations, satisfaction, etc.
There are multiple types of errors in the data we gather. The easiest to quantify and the one most often discussed is sampling error.
Let’s assume we can draw a random sample from your population. But how big a sample do we need to have confidence in our results?
I like the quote from Andy Warhol, “They say time changes things but you actually have to change them yourself.” One of my best life lessons was coming to the realization that when I changed the way I looked at a situation – the situation itself seemed to change - when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change!
IT’S NOT HARD TO PREDICT, NOW THAT WE’RE IN THE MIDDLE
Thirty years ago, not many people were looking forward to this transition. Not even a few year ago. Otherwise, books like Michael Mandeville’s 2003 book, The Coming Economic Collapse, would have been best sellers.
Now that we’ve experienced the last quarter of 2008, detailed info what what comes next is available online if you want to read it.
Our focus is help folks get through the mess, but also to realize that life on the other side will be much different, and can become very positive and life supporting. Each Monday we’ll try to post a few articles touching on the immediate 2009 economy, what comes after the meltdown, and how to survive and thrive with your business.
Economist Paul Krugman was one of the few voices of dissent during the early Bush-2 administration when most everyone was in lockstep.
Welcome to the first Monday edition of Global Trends, focused on what’s happening today that is turning your life on its head. We can’t ignore it any longer. If we bury our heads in the sand, there won’t be any sand left within months, not decades.
“THIS IS GOING TO BE A HARD TIME”
PopTech (The PopTech story) has begun a series of video interviews, Diagnoses and Prescriptions: Global Economic Crisis. Here’s an insightful one with Robert Borosage on what to do to fix things.
Have you ever wondered about the real environmental commitment of hotels with those little cards telling you they are concerned about the environment,“so please don’t ask us to change your towels or sheets daily”… and then, they fill up the bathroom with little tiny packages of toiletries that get partially used -and then, become landfill?
Well, Greg Salloum, property owner, Best Western Inn, in Kelowna, British Columbia is an exception. This man is sincere and dedicated to his commitment to the environment and has spent the money to prove it.
The music industry has thrived as a model of mass marketing. But it’s the personal relationships that make it grow. And as the old industry falls apart, those personal relationships, aided by the small world of the Internet, take over.
So, how do performing musicians take control of their lives, in addition to learning their craft, woodshedding (sitting in your room and practicing (in the woodshed) until you master your instrument and your ability to play music, then go out and perform), and praying?
I didn’t inherit size, mass or speed. Whether because it matched my body type or my personality, I was always attracted to physical mastery in three steps: flexibility, then balance, then strength. I am always entranced by displays of these three elements. They remind me of my daughter, Rebecca’s grace as a gymnast.
Thanks to Sandy Berarducci, here’s Human Perfection in the Physical World. Now why aren’t you practicing?
music & arts: understand what you are working with
WHAT ARE YOU HEARING THESE DAYS?
When you go to a concert whether it be jazz, acoustic, rock n roll, orchestral, Broadway, or whatever strikes your sonic fancy, what do you hear?
Do you hear the actual voices and instruments being played on stage? Think about it… In the instances of true musicians (no lip-syncers here), of course they are playing actual instruments and singing with natural voices. However it is up to the sound engineer(s) mixing the performance to make the musicians sound as good as possible.
“Rationality suggests that trust should build slowly and that people should proceed cautiously when building a relationship. But what if you only have one chance to decide whether to trust someone? In that case, caution might be a poor choice… Both experiments showed that reciprocity increased as the money sent increased: sending more increased reciprocity.”
“What do you do if your boss asks you to lie for him or her?”
Nan DeMars, author,“You Want Me to do What?”, says you should tell your boss I will never lie for you. But you also should know that I will never lie to you, either.“www.office-ethics.com.
WHO KNEW WHAT?
With all the scandals we have been exposed to recently in the banking industry, on Wall Street, and in politics, one can’t help but wonder about the subordinates who “had to know”.
I have encouraged her to share specifics with our readers from her wealth of personal experience and success in network marketing. And it looks like we’re starting to be treated to her thoughts and wisdom.
It prompted me to offer this follow-up discussion.
WHY ARE HONORABLE NETWORK MARKETING FIRMS SHROUDED IN MYSTERY?
