Truth in advertising is one of the most important rules in business. It’s what drives the ridiculously long disclaimers in automotive advertising and the list of tente gonflable pas cher discouraging side effects when the pharmaceutical companies hock their latest medical miracles. I don’t know about you, but every time I hear the side effects of some of these meds, I wonder if the ailment isn’t better than the cure.
So, I enter my favorite fast food restaurant and order that perfect cheeseburger pictured so deliciously over the counter. I take my treasure to the table and unwrap my sandwich to find a squashed bun, most of the melted cheese sticking to the wrapper, catsup all over the place and a pickle stuck to the underside.
In that post I outlined 10 behaviours I believe need to be changed for network marketing to undergo the revolution I know will occur when we discover the potential this economic model has to lead business into the future. For the ten weeks following that initial post, I have expanded on each of those 10 behaviors. (click for a complete listing to all posts on this subject).

corporate mindshift: management
CHANGING ONES OWN MINDSET CAN BE CHALLENGING – BUT CAN YOU SHIFT AN ENTIRE ORGANIZATION?
If you have ever tried to make a lifestyle change, perhaps to exercise more, eat healthier, spend more time with loved ones and less time at the office, you know what a challenge it can be just to make a small change in behaviourial patterns.
If you think it is challenging to change behaviours, consider how much more challenging it is to make significant mental or consciousness shifts, for oneself, and particularly, for an entire organization.
IS THE WORD -VALUES-AN OXYMORON IN THE BANKING INDUSTRY?
VANCITY IS PROOF POSITIVE -IT IS NOT
VanCity, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, is in its sixth decade of operation, offering a form of social and spiritual capitalism that proves doing business in alignment with high values and integrity can also be profitable.
This unique blend of more than-a-credit-union and more than-a-bank, is a breath of fresh air in the midst of the tornadeo of devastation wrecked by banking institutions whose operating philosophies are more of a testament to the capitalistic prophecies born out of the ancient Greek myth of Erisychthon.
This most be the oldest “Pick Up” line in the network marketing book. It is the subject today of our 7th post in a 10 part series on network marketing No-No’s. This list of behaviours that I wish network marketers would immediately stop using, grew out of a post I wrote titled, People Don’t Dislike Network Marketing, They Dislike Network Marketers.”
INSPIRATIONAL CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE WITH A UNIVERSAL HUMAN MESSAGE
click to visit Jubilee’s homepage
I never thought attending a Christian conference would present me with such an abundance of culture and progressive thinking. This weekend started out with a talk by Gabe Lyons, co-author of the book “unChristian,” describing perception research into how the world views Christians. This research was conducted the same way a company conducts market research to understand brand perceptions, awareness, etc .
His research suggests, among other things, that people perceive Christians as having lost touch with culture and creativity – they are sheltered…out of touch with reality. These opening remarks began a weekend of inspiration, insight, and an exposure to some remarkable individuals who prove such an argument couldn’t be more wrong.
THE ULTIMATE FOCUS…THE HUMAN MESSAGE
How will you use your God-given talents, abilities and opportunities to cultivate learning, creating, building, and serving? And…how can you accomplish these goals in such a turbulent world?
This is the fifth post in a series of articles that began with a post titled,“People Don’t Dislike Network Marketing,They Dislike Network Marketers” in which I sent out a plea for more professionalism in the industry, followed by 10 behaviours that we would be well-advised to stop as quickly as possible.
These 10 No-No behaviours have been the the subject of each weekly post since that first article.
Today’s rant, and 5th behaviour is the “claim of a cure”.
Some lady in Kansas had cancer and now she walks on water or (variation on the theme) my doctor does not know anything about this but it is an amazing cure.
In an annual perception survey, international polling firm, Globescan, released results for 2009, finding the US reversing a previous downward trend in how the world perceives its ability to exert a positive impact, from a low of 28% in 2005, to a new high of 40% in February, 2009. The improvement is believed to be linked to the election of Barak Obama.
With the question, “Please tell me if you think each of the following are having a mainly positive or mainly negative influence in the world,” Globescan, in partnership with PIPA, the Program on International Policy Attitudes and the University of Maryland, have compiled results of “perception of influence” of approximately 16 states (varies somewhat annually) as ranked by 13,000 (at times as high as 33,000) people in 26 countries since 2004.
IS IT TIME FOR PERCEPTION CHECKS IN YOUR BUSINESS?…
Last Thursday I posted an article titled Let’s Redefine Abundance. Thanks to Nick Corsi for this link from the PopTech Conference 2008 that expands on the topic.
Listen as Peter Whybrow, neuropsychiatrist, author of “American Mania: When More Is Not Enough,” describes the brain physiology of addiction of a society that demands more and more, yet is left empty, devoid and sick. This clip outlines the HOPE that underlies this economic crisis, if we will take the opportunity to make a cultural shift in our evolution.

Today, we are celebrating the significant acts of two groups of people who are making a difference – first, a group of Canadians doing, 1 million right things...and secondly, 2500 Australians, who peacefully stood up for their beliefs.
My usual approach to this Friday post on Consciousness, is to recognize the inspiring efforts of an individual who is committed to doing something special to make a difference on the planet. We call this person an enlightenor. They are, typically, someone who is quietly going about doing the right things, for the right reasons.
It is exciting to see groups of people coming together – one dream – one team! On Wednesday, February 4th,2009, a Canadian team reached its goal!
I discovered our Enlightened Corporation for this week while watching a segment of the Oprah show in which she interviewed young, self-made millionaires.
Tony Hsieh,CEO of Zappos.com, was one of the guests. He is a great inspiration, a model CEO of a model corporation, for our Enlightened Orgs directory.
His business achievements are certainly significant for such a young man. While still in his twenties, Hsieh (SHAY), a computer undergraduate from Harvard, co-founded an internet advertising agency called LinkExchange, which was sold to Microsoft for $265 million in 1998. But it was actually his business philosophy or mindset, that really caught my attention.
“I AM NOT NECESSARILY PASSIONATE ABOUT SHOES…WHAT I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT IS…
DO YOU FEEL MORE SECURE TODAY, THAN TEN YEARS AGO?
In yesterdays blog, Power Elite Struggles for Control, I talked about a new piece of US legislation, growing out of the Homeland Security initiatives on the war on terror, that will exercise greater control over passenger lists of aircraft flying over US airspace. I suggested this is an example of the extremes being used, presumably to make you feel more safe, in this dangerous world of terrorists who could be living right beside you… or lurking around any corner… or even flying overhead!
I also used this as an example of “old minds” attempting to deal with new realities, in the same consciousness that created the problems in the first place. Doing this is what Einstein would have referred to as, “Insanity.”
‘HOW LIVING IN A CLIMATE OF FEAR AND SUSPICION…IS MAKING ME LOVING AND CALM…’
There is nothing that delights me more than coincidences. I think they are a little “cosmic goose” telling us there is much more to this “life and universe business” than we ever dare to imagine.
It is a higher power having a bit of fun with us, as one would gently and lovingly tease a child. I think they hold metaphorical messages, if we will only take the time and energy to attempt to decode them. I hope the coincidences I have detected this week are a sign that there is…
Our Thursday posting is dedicated to Network Marketing, so what better time than the Christmas season to talk about what it means to “network market.”
Probably the greatest networker of them all was Jesus Christ. He had a message he believed in, and knew it had to be shared with others. He gathered 12 others who believed in him and also wanted to spread the message.
One of our readers posted a comment on last weeks Law of Attraction blog and shared this punchy definition of the Law of Attraction:
“FATE YOU CREATE!”
I love it. It succinctly points out there is a need for both imagination and responsibility for the Law of Attraction to work. The creation process is found through a vivid imagination.
UPDATE 12/4/08: I’m excited to announce that beginning Monday, December 8, Judy will share her insights here as we begin a daily dialog on Enlightened Organizations.

Enlightened Organizations: Ethics
LOST YOUR FIELD OF VISION?
Jim and Judy Berg of British Columbia have become dear friends of ours over the past few years. They began as clients, and became business partners.
The Bergs have continuously traveled the world for many years in their businesses. This week, Judy flew across Canada to give a presentation that merged her most recent book with our theme on Enlightened Organizations.
She ran again into something we find all too common these days – the wanna-bebusinessmarketinggurus with fast pitches and high prices, who leave carnage in their wake. It’s called field of vision – or depth. And some people talk about it but don’t have much depth.
CosmoGirl Article: “Sometimes relationships can get a little too serious, and when that happens it might be a good idea to regress to childhood. Begin with some flirty kisses on his chest and abs, and then when he least expects it, blow on his tummy and tickle him.” If this is for young teen fun, what do they recommend in seriousness?”

ADVERTISING DIFFERENT FROM REALITY? COULDN’T BE
“An online poll of more than 2,600 US adults conducted by Harris Interactive shows women office workers spend nearly triple the amount of time with their computer as they do with their significant other – 9.3 hours with the disk drive and keyboard compared with 3.6 hours with their human partner.
“And only one in five of the women says she wishes she could spend more time with her partner than with her computer, even if the latter causes them pain, often in the form of carpal tunnel syndrome, according to the poll.”
