The economy accomplishes what years of social programs could not

Since the Second World War, American families have kept splitting and isolating. To offset this, a programmatic goal emerged from the Older Americans Act of 1973 to facilitate inter-generational interaction.

It didn’t have a lot of success over the past 40 years. Then along came the tsunami of economic forces, and inter-generational households are back with a vengeance.
